Text: Ps 115: 14-15, 2Sam 6: 5-12
If you look through the scripture, you will observe that God cannot say a thing and fail to fulfil it. You cannot help God as a man. That is one error many make just as Uzzah. The ark of God stayed in the house of Abinadab for twenty years and he was not blessed but just within three months in Obededom’s house, he was greatly blessed. Why? Obededom knew what to do that brought the blessing of God to his family through the ark of God. When you do what others have done and they were blessed, you will be blessed too. The kind of blessing that God blessed Obededom was the kind of extraordinary increase that we are talking about. In verse 12 of 2 Sam 6, the Bible says the Lord blessed all that is in the household of Obededom.
What did Obededom do that Abinadab did not do?
- Obededom accepted the ark of God – the ark of God represents the presence of God. Wherever God comes into a place, there is enlargement.
- Rain of supernatural ideas – God’s presence comes with supernatural ideas. One idea from the Lord can give you a supernatural increase.
- Obedience – the place of obedience can never be overemphasized in the things of God. God will jump over one million men just to meet one obedient man. If you divide the Bible into four parts, three parts are instructions and commandments that need to be obeyed. Remember the widow that ran to prophet Elisha with nothing but a bottle with a little oil? Your oil stops at the level of your obedience.
- Obededom praised God – 2 Sam 6:13 – You can never miss God in praise. You may miss God in prayers but not in praise. Don’t let anything steal your praise.
- Sacrifice – Every deity is moved by sacrifice. God is moved with sacrifices. When David’s servants brought him waters from the well of Bethlehem, he poured it out to God as a sacrifice – 2 Sam 23:16. An unbelieving king sacrificed his son to stop a war against him and there was great indignation – 2Kgs 3:27 and the children of Israel returned to their land. How much more you a believer.
