Text: Psalm 103:1-5

The psalmist says count your blessings. There is no disadvantage in the kingdom as a child of God. All in all, God has been there for us this year. If God is not with us, you and I will not be here today. Life is not a right, life is a gift. Be grateful to God who is the giver of life. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Ps 34:8. Can you say thank you Jesus? Many started this year but are no more today. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because His compassion fails not – Lam 3:22. Give thanks to God in everything. Every time you give thanks to God, you are in the will of God – 1Thess 5:18. Ingratitude is a sin Mal 2:2, Num11:1.

Sometimes, we complain to earn men’s sympathy. Whenever we complain, we arouse the anger of God for God detests complaints. Be careful of complaints; it will only make the matter worse. Consider what God has done and give him thanks. Understand that wherever you are today is a result of the mercy of God. Show deep-rooted appreciation for journey mercies, and victories, 1Corth 15:57…thanks be to God who daily gives us victory.

Many slept and died from their sleep. That you can sleep and wake up all through the year is worth thanking God for – Ps 3:5. Be intentional and specific in your Thanksgiving. What you thank God for will always multiply. That was why David took his time to list the goodness of God in Ps 103:1-5.

Bless the Lord even when it is your night season. Even if the decision you took was wrong; thank God it did not consume you. Ps 52:9 says I will thank the Lord forever because he has done it. Count your blessings and thank the Lord – Jer 30:19. Thank God for that seemingly small thing the Lord has done. It is in thanking Him for the little things that bigger testimonies will emerge.

Three areas God has been good to us

  1. For the gift of life Job 10:12, every time we wake up, it means the breath of God is still in us and we have to be grateful for that – Gen 2:7, Ps 3:5 says “I laid me down and slept; I awoke; for the LORD sustained me”.
  2. For divine health and healing – Ex 15:26, thank God some of us did not go to hospital this year and those that went, we came out alive. Ps 103:2-3, 3John 2
  3. For divine provision – Ps 23:5. The Lord has been our provider all year round and our protector. If God should open your eyes to see the arrows that fly by day, you would not want to leave your house. Phil 4:19. God has been good to us and we owe him all the thanks. Smarter people have died, but you are still alive. Richer people have gone to eternity but you are still alive. Cultivate the habit of offering thanks always to God.

Shalom!
